Politicos ponder patent system changes | CNET News.com
> WASHINGTON–In the wake of high-profile lawsuits involving BlackBerry and eBay, Congress is once again talking about fixing what the technology industry says is a thoroughly broken patent system.

The idea is to let the public oppose a patent shortly after it has been approved, making it easier to correct the errors the patent office is bound to make. It’s still a broken system, though, as it’s up to the patent approvers to find prior art which is extremely difficult with the amount of active patents, and still try to meet some quota each week.
