ZDNet has a story about how hyperthreading isn’t working like it’s advertised.
> Intel had stated that hyperthreading’s performance advantages would show once threaded software became available, but it appears that in some cases the opposite is true
It seems that most developers of heavily multi-threaded software are suggesting that hyperthreading be disabled to improve performance under heavy load. Kinda strange, as hyperthreading is claimed to increase performance of multi-threaded software, and is enabled by default on newer processors.
