WASHINGTON (AP) - A federal appeals court on Friday rejected efforts by the recording industry to compel the nation's Internet providers to identify subscribers accused of illegally distributing music online.
This means that the RIAA can no longer subpoena Verizon and other ISPs to get the IP’s of copyright infringers without a judges approval. They did this for a while back, and Verizon handed out the names of at least 4 people the RIAA thought were into file sharing.
