I’ve been severly plagued by spam the last couple of years. And I mean severly. I co-wrote an online massive browser-based strategy game, which got my email addrress added to around 100.000 addressbooks, and loads of people found it hillarious to add me to all kinds of stupid mailing lists. This means that my email address has been added to just about every harvested email database there is, and I suffer the consequenses daily.

But no more! I installed Bogofilter on my server, and started feeding it spam/ham as the emails trickled in. Slowly but surely, more and more spam, chainletters, scams, and virus reports end up in my designated Junk folder. I no longer dread opening Evloution and reading my email as the amount of crap not caught is very much bearable. Rejoice!

So far today, my highly trained Bogofilter has correctly identified 264 useless emails. It failed to classify 4 bogus emails as junk, but that’s easily fixable by moving them into the Junk folder and running a small shell script. So, the more spam I get, the better the filtering gets. Keep’em coming, I no longer mind.
